ALBUM RELEASE
On the 15.09.2023 the first official album of Sophie's World Music will be brought out together with the song 'Another Afternoon'. Which is a collaboration with Arts For Social Change and made by Videographer Alessandro De Matteis. The album Stars And Tales are stories that have the purpose to create awareness of social problems of individuals, that get lost in our current political climate. The music wants to connect people by having melodies to be singalong with and beats to dance on.

Biography
That the talented singer-songwriter Maya Lisa is blessed with a gift, shows by the fact that she has worked with some of the best musicians in the business. She is lead vocalist, writer and dancer in the group of award winning funk drummer Jamal Thomas (Maceo Parker, the S.O.S.Band). Maya collaborated with Chuck Leavell (The Rolling Stones), Martha High (James Brown). Maya has written the lyrics for the theater tour Mr. Richard Parker by avant-garde jazz master Chris Hinze with which she toured in 2017 through the big theatres in the Netherlands.
Music is a second nature for Maya. As a young girl she studied music theory and violin. Maya began an intense concentration on singing at the age of 18 and in 2011 she graduated from the acclaimed CODARTS conservatory in Rotterdam, NL. After her bachelor degree, she continued shortly in the experimental music theatre world by studying the master This Is Music Theatre on the Royal Academy The Hague.
Though classically trained, Lisa has always had a fascination for r’n’b, blues and soul music. Her album debut with her world-folk band Sophie’s World Music (2023) will be imbued with these influences. A production which shows Maya’s passion for singing and her capacity to connect the listener with her heart. She likes to be an example for those who want to transform their dreams into reality. An ambition she also expresses in her socially engaged songs.
Jamal Thomas is clear about Lisa’s future: “Maya is extremely talented. I have worked with many great singers and she becomes one of them. Calm, explosive and always well prepared.
